Who we are

Hearthwise ("we," "us," or "our") provides an online home safety self-assessment tool and related digital reports. This policy explains what information we collect when you use hearthwise.care (the "Site"), how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

• Assessment answers. Your responses to the home safety questionnaire are stored only in your own browser (using local storage), not on our servers, so we can generate your report and reconstruct it after checkout on the same device.
• Email address. If you provide your email to unlock your free report, we store it so we can send you your results and, occasionally, related home safety guidance. You can unsubscribe or ask us to delete it at any time (see "Your choices" below).
• Payment information. If you purchase the Complete Guide, your payment is processed directly by Stripe, our payment processor. We do not receive or store your full card number. Stripe may provide us with limited transaction details (such as the amount charged and an order confirmation) to fulfill your purchase.
• Basic technical data. Like most websites, our hosting provider (Vercel) automatically logs standard technical information (such as IP address and browser type) for security and reliability purposes.

How we use your information

• To generate and deliver your home safety report
• To process your payment for the Complete Guide
• To send you your results and occasional related guidance by email
• To respond if you contact us with a question
• To maintain the security and proper functioning of the Site

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your assessment answers for anything other than generating your own report.

Who we share information with

We use a small number of service providers to run Hearthwise: a payment processor (Stripe) to handle checkout, a hosting provider (Vercel) to run the Site, and, if you've opted in, an email service to send you your results. We only share what each provider needs to do its job, and we don't permit them to use your information for their own purposes.

Your choices

• You can unsubscribe from emails at any time using the link in any email we send
• You can ask us to delete your email address and any associated data by contacting us
• Since assessment answers live in your browser rather than our servers, clearing your browser data removes them automatically

Not medical advice

Hearthwise provides educational home safety information. It is not medical advice, a medical device, or a substitute for professional inspection, diagnosis, or care. Any information we collect is used solely to generate and improve the product described above.

Children's privacy

Hearthwise is intended for adults and is not directed at, or knowingly used to collect information from, children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
